Introduction:
First and foremost, it’s crucial to understand that to ensure the slide‑stop works properly you must set your PSI so the slide completes a full cycle.
There are many brands and generations of Glock‑style replicas on the market, each with its own specs. In some cases the slide‑stop may fail to engage, or the magazine spring may not be strong enough to activate it, both of which can prevent reliable empty‑mag detection.
In some situations the slide‑stop can come into contact with the tip of the magazine’s feed lips. To fix this, there’s a simple modification you can make, which I explain below:
1. Here are the two types of slide stops you’ll find across different Glock replica versions. Most newer‑generation models come with an ambidextrous version.
2. This example shows a sufficient gap between the slide stop and the tip of the magazine feed lips, ensuring proper operation. As you can see, the slide stop does not rub against the feed lips.
3. In this example, the gap between the slide stop and the tip of the feed lips is insufficient. The slide stop is pressed against the magazine lips. This causes an engagement issue and disrupts the proper functioning of the slide stop.
4. To fix this, remove the slide stop from your replica and carefully file down the indicated area by about 1 mm using a metal file. This will create the necessary clearance between the two components.
